Complicated Trauma/ Grief and CBT Psychotherapy with Allyson
As a Clinical Social Worker, my first goal is to develop a therapeutic relationship that is built on trust in a safe environment. I aid and support clients by creating insight and strategic interventions to improve quality of life. I believe in a strengths-based, solution-focused approach to energize and motivate clients while incorporating evidence-based practice methods to achieve changes that is client-focused and driven.
I obtained my Clinical Social Work degrees (MSW, BSW) at Rhode Island College School of Social Work where I graduated Magna cum laude. Areas of my focus include anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief, and loss, (loss in relation to divorce, finances, security, loss of job or home, loss of earlier self, and loss from physical illness). I specialize in Traumatic Grief and child loss (of any age) by counseling those affected by traumatic and catastrophic deaths. Treatment includes compassionate and specifically tailored treatment to help a client heal through grief. As a mother of two sons, one who walks and one who flies, I understand the depths and utter devastation that grief can bring about.
My philosophy includes incorporating Holistic therapy that treats the whole person while considering aspects of their environment and how that has shaped a client’s life and decision making. Together we will formulate a treatment plan that includes utilizing evidence-based modalities, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Narrative Therapy to adjust maladaptive thinking patterns and behaviors. This approach includes providing a new perspective and keen insight to strengthen and empower clients, while encompassing clients with empathic and compassionate support.
